Once again, intim sessions brings
more
Once again, intim sessions brings you gems of the local music scene with two indie darlings- Bil Musa, an emotional lovelorn folk/pop singer-songwriter, and Shuuna, an act of nostalgia with a modern twist.
Bil Musa
Nabilah Musa, also known as Bil Musa, is an upcoming Malaysian singer-songwriter that was born and raised in Kuala Lumpur. She started out playing the piano when she was 7 and went on to write her own songs at the age of 16. She has been interested in music and the music industry from a very young age. Her urban upbringing gave birth to her appreciation of indie bands and music. She has written several songs since the age of 16, and although she has a vast amount of English songs, she pushes for Malay songs very so often.
Shuuna
Moja was an active member of alternative-rock band, Monalyssa, when he met Shuu as she joined them as guest singer recurringly. In 2016, the two of them decided to form Shuuna with the help of other experienced session musicians as they journeyed into the Malay folk genre. Due to various circumstances, they ended up playing as a duo more often than as band. In March 2017, they rebranded their sound as indie-electronic-nusantara when they released their first EP, Torsades de Pointes. The duo was later joined by Fai of Paper Plains- further enhancing the the whole dynamic of this act.

more
Things are heating up this May. Ahead of the mammoth finale in August, the Yayasan Sime Darby Arts Festival (YSDAF) will be rolling out a satellite event “…And the Curtain Rises.”
Producers Ian Chow and Coebar Abel have an insane game plan up their sleeves. Think speed dating, singer-songwriter style. 12 singer-songwriters (who may or may not know each other) will be paired up to write 12 brand new songs in a mere 12-hour period. Unlike speed dating, the singer-songwriters have no choice but to make it work whether sparks fly or not because they have to premiere these new numbers to an actual audience when the 12 hours are up. And if that is not nerve-wrecking enough, it will be recorded live and made into a CD.
Now, who on earth is insane enough to take up such a challenge? The eclectic line up is as interesting as the challenge. Singer-songwriters Aina Abdul, Brendan de Cruz, Beverly Matujal, Dickson Chai, Endee Ahmad, Fuad of Kyoto Protocol, Isaac Ho, Melissa Toh, Nick Davis, Otam, Priscillia Xavier and duo Shir Ling & Jacq Teng are ready to put their game face on.
Be the first to hear these songs performed live. The songs will premiere at “…And the Curtain Rises” from 26 to 27 May in klpac’s Pentas 2. Free admission for the public.
